The hero is the main archetype. The term “hero” comes from the Greek, the root means “to protect and serve”. A Hero is therefore one who is ready to sacrifice himself for others. But that’s not all. The hero is “he or she who has been able to overcome their personal and environmental limitations and reach universally valid forms.
We are used to considering the “crisis” as a negative thing, a time of pain, loss and suffering. The term “crisis”, of Greek derivation (κρίσις) means discernment, transformation. Transformation such as that which allows a caterpillar to become a butterfly. The process, fantastic from the outside, is indeed an “impressive” transformation of the chrysalis. In order for a caterpillar to turn into a butterfly, it digestes itself using hormone-triggered enzymes. Hence, the dormant cells grow in the body parts of the future butterfly.
These changes, crises or “opportunities” happen also in our life almost continuously, some push us upwards, others tear us down. Sometimes life does not give us what we want but, since it is wiser than us, it gives us what we need or even, what we deserve.
Every change in life that we want, requires a series of actions even before the cycle of our thoughts and emotions to prevent the loop of “bad habits”.
